I have seen a lot of posts regarding UK, Australian and South African research degrees. Strangely absent is the mention of New Zealand universities. How flexible are they for external research for their PhD's?
Way back when.... I emailed a couple of NZ universities with no luck. Either they didn't return the email or they did not offer the DL option. That was my experience anyway.
Hi, Out of the 8 national universities, only Massey University (www.massey.ac.nz) offers the DL/extramural studies. I completed my Undergrad in Finance with Massey Uni. It's great university. Massey Uni is also the Open university of New Zealand Then theres the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand (www.topnz.ac.nz) only offers undergrad degrees. Migara
Whilst the New Zealand Government has made a lot of noise about e-learning little progress has really been made and the two main schools offering DL courses still largely use the correspondence style of delivery. Not that there's too much wrong with this, but it does seem that the widespread use of e-learning degree packages is still a few years away. Unless you are a "Kiwi", taking NZ DL courses overseas will cost you large amounts of Kiwi dollars, as the govt subsidy is eliminated in such instances. Dr Anatidae (Knightsbridge)
Scott, Yes Massey Uni offers many DL doctoral Level degrees. Few of them would require to orally defend your PhD thesis. I think its best that you email the University or why not check the Uni web site out on www.massey.ac.nz and look for Extramural programs, degrees. I hope this helps. Migara
