Note: Data is based on Fall 2003 survey of 120 accredited distance-learning MBAs undertaken by GetEducated.com, LLC.

"Clear trends were revealed in our Fall 2003 survey," notes GetEducated.com’s CEO Vicky Phillips, who has been tracking online degrees since 1989. "First, students have an amazing amount of choice when selecting an online MBA ~ 120 choices, in fact."

"The range students can expect to pay for an online MBA is also staggering," comments Phillips. "Among the least expensive are bargain buys from state universities, such as California State University Dominguez Hills and The University of Texas System."

Students can enroll in these state universities and earn a distance MBA at less than half the cost of newer, for-profit, brand name competitors such as the University of Phoenix.

"However," Phillips continues, "because many state university systems invest so little in advertising many consumers are simply not aware that schools like California State University offer bargain-priced, Internet-based degrees that can be earned from any state in the nation."

    I cannot find...

the Western Illinois Distance MBA program. I can find an off-campus evening program but none by distance learning.

My MBA alma mater Morehead State University may be even more a bargain when an exciting announcement comes this late spring regarding accreditation.

I'm not sure what the author meant by "newer." UoP was established in the mid-1970's; UoP online in 1989. There weren't very many truly online programs anywhere in 1989.

BTW, UoP online enrolls in excess of 90,000 active students. UoP's classroom-based programs just went over 100,000.

I believe that the in-state tuition applies to the Nebraska-Lincoln online MBA program no matter what your residence. This would make it among the lowest priced AACSB-accredited online MBA programs nationwide.

Re: Re: Distance Learning MBA Survey 2004

I took "newer" to mean the age of the university, not necessarily the DL MBA program from that school. Also, the author is comparing schools like UoP to state universities. From the list, the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (1869) and the University of North Dakota (1883) are examples of schools that definitely make UoP look like the new kid on the block.
