Trust me, this is DL related......just bear with me.

I was reviewing some old Word files to delete, and came across my senior policy paper from graduate school. I read the whole thing, for the first time since I submitted it a long time ago. I was actually a bit shocked at how good it was.

I don't say that to puff up myself, but more as a comment as to how much I've regressed since then. I now find myself perusing tabloids and glossy magazines, whereas I would take on relevant journal articles a few years ago.

I am totally stale and in a rut. I'm thinking of taking a DL course just to jump-start me again. I think the challenge & stimulation would help a great deal.

    Anyone have a similar situation?

Definatly, I understand where you are. Although I don't have a graduate degree I certainly understand where you are coming from. After 12 years of no real studying and too much sports geared reading my brain has seemed to fallen asleep. Yuck, it is amazing, all the stuff I have forgotten.

    Bruce,
You can now pursue that PhD. The research and writing will get your skills back up to "par".

    Bruce,

I know where you're coming from. I've had the fear of becoming complacent while waiting for a DL Ph.D. program to materialize that interests me; I've been taking a couple of DL classes per semester just to keep me in the game and to stay sharp.

From the other side, I realize that I am thinking and writing a lot better now than i was 1 1/2 years ago before i started my current progrm.

Yes, studying does help keep your brain sharp!

    Bruce,

This is exactly why going back to school is kind of scary. My brain keeps telling me there is to much work involved, video games are much easier........

    Yep

I can certainly dig that. I have spent this six months out of school after testing and studying nonstop for a couple of years. I really felt like a man stuck in a limbo/zombie existance as I waited for COSC to evaluate my stuff and get ready for whatever grad school I'm going to attend. I started studying for some extra business tests for another quicky Bachelors but couldn't get motivated for that, began catching up on my reading by picking up some Nabokov and the more recent literary favorites, ended up reading a couple of Clive Barker books and a mid-list horror paperback that my friend wriote. I don't think I could form an intellegent thought to save my life and I have to get back into gear! This forum helps. I love interacting with others along the path, it keeps me company.

I want to, I really do.

I'm just waiting for that Ph.D. program that fits into my needs & budget.

In the meantime, I was thinking of taking a DL course to just keep my mind sharp.
