I just transferred programs withing Excelsior, and now they are trying to tell me that I have to take the Info. Literacy Requirement even though I've been enrolled since Oct of 2003. I thought I remembered someone on here mentioning that Exclesior had told them switching programs would not require them to take the information literacy requirement. Does anyone know where this post was, or did anyone really say this? :)

I really said this, but in Rosie's case she's just adding a Psychology major to a Liberal Arts degree. If you're switching between faculties (e.g., Liberal Arts to Business), you may be out of luck.

Ahh, I see. Well, since everything in their handbook and site says "enrolling after Jan 2004", and in the handbook, a program transfer is stated to be a feed incurred "during enrollment" I'm gonna at least argue with them a bit on it. Is there actually any other way to meet this requirement? It seems like a bogus course excelsior invented with the basic goal of just increasing the enrollment fee without making it look that way.

You'll probably have to contact Excelsior to learn what would substitute for the course.

I find this funny as it seems more a threat than a promise:

That will teach those students to ask for something.

  5. I wouldn't be surprised if they started eliminating more ECEs and replacing them with online courses - more revenue from a course, plus a bigger lock on the guided learning packages.

All the more reason to get done ASAP - although I'm happy to see that they'll be offering courses such as macro/microeconomics for those people that require more structured learning.

What I'm not happy about is that they're pulling ECEs without having online courses ready - for example, Production/Operations Mgt. Right now you have to take a course or TECEP. Business Policy and Strategy will be next (9/30) - hopefully for those requiring it in Oct or beyond they'll have a course ready to go by then.

    Cheers,
    Mark
