    Hi all

I plan to start my MBA at the University Of Liverpool (DL) march this year. If I read some older postings in this forum I notice that the costs for the MBA are now much higher then before a few months. They want about 18’000 Euros if I pay everything at the beginning and they offered me this questionable Scholarship of 3000 Euros. Is there someone in this forum who has already
finished the MBA at UoL ? What are your experiences? (acceptance by Company’s, WW University’s) ? Is there someone who still work on his/her MBA at UoL? What’s good / bad? I’m happy for any information !

    Thanks in Advance !

    Mike

I know nothing personal about it...

but I woudn't call anything "questionable" that knocks almost $4000 off the cost of an MBA. If it is THE University of Liverpool it would be an excellent degree. I would imagine they are offering the discount at the begining because they will then have your money for the entire program to invest, etc . and they won't have to keep dealing with money issues as you go through the program. You may want to check if there are any undue requirements on getting your money back if you drop out of the program. Otherwise, it is a legitimate and good offer if you have the cash up front.

I was looking at Liverpool a little while back for their IT program and they also offered a discount which I found very odd. In fact KIT Campus was pushing me to sign up for the program and said that if I dont sign by such and such date I would not get the so called scholarship. I found the program to be very expensive and the assesment methods not so great. I think there are no exams for any courses you take. here is an old thread if you are interested..

I would like to know more about the experiences you probably have with the system they use for online course. The good, bad and ugly...

    TIA

    Hello everyone,

I happen to be enrolled in the U of L's MBA program and it is truly excellent. I'm currently doing the 4th of 9 modules leading to my dissertation and will graduate in June/2005.

I've read with some humour about the pro's and con's of this highly respected school and I would be happy to provide some REAL info about the MBA online course.

Yes it is expensive when compared to some of the local lower tier schools in North America but it is relative to what you will be earning and submitting for reference for the rest of your life. I wanted a meaningful degree from a first rate school that is known thru-out the world. They have 7 nobel prize winners on staff and their research budgets are eniable to say the least.

The course is not for everyone as it involves much more time and effort than most students are prepared to commit to. I've spent 45 - 60 a week completing research in one course and about 30 - 35 hours on average. Because I've done some fast tracking I'll finish the degree in about 1 1/2 years.

As for the comments related to cheating, let's just say if you had taken any of these modules you would agree that it is just impossible to make this kind of academic commitment for someone else! Not likely to ever happen as there are far too many safeguards to allow this to happen.

Is it comparable to Harvard? Of course it is. The senior U.K. schools have been around a very long time and their quality speaks for themselves. Spend sometime at the WebSite and review the capital expenditures and depth of academic structure.

I would recommend U of L to anyone that is serious about their degree qualification standing the test of time. I'm looking at Walden for a Phd in Engineering Management next. My Liverpool degree is highly recognised where-ever I submit the program.

I'm following the City and Guilds route for a MCGI award as well and that organization along with the IMech E is very helpful in this endeavour.

I think Chris hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that these organizations are for-profit-centers and they run promotions like any other business! I was offered the same discount and was glad to take it as my first review of their program was void of the offer. Big savings for a great school. I'll take a name-brand school any day

    hi Leo,

I am currently studying MBA programme with Imperial College London, The University of London. I enjoyed the study and met some good classmates.

I would be happy to share with you my experience with IC.

BTW, I believe the "UoL" in the original post refers to "University of Liverpool" and not "University of London"
