I'm having trouble finding this info on both Excelsior's and COSC's sites. I have a couple of D grade letters on my transcript that I was hoping to transfer into whatever program I eventually enroll in, all lower-level general courses. I went through the self-assessment on Excelsior's site, and they specify to only enter credits with a C or better. I can't find this spelled-out anywhere else on their site. COSC's site makes no reference to grade letter either, only a vague item that seems to indicate that they'll accept any passing grade. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info Mark. I was referring to the Excelsior's College Credit Tracker, which made a reference to only list courses in which a C was obtained.

I've been told that Excelsior does not accept D grades for majors. The way the question was answered, it seemed to imply that they do take D letter grades for other classes, though (although as Mark mentioned there are probably other exceptions as well such as english).

That's odd. At http://www.excelsior.edu/pdf/Liberal_Arts_Catalog.pdf, page 24, under "Major", it says "minimum 2.0 GPA required". "2.0 GPA", not "2.0 in every course". (Remember that Excelsior ignores pluses and minuses, so even a C- would yield 2.0.)

But from what Rant and Randy reported, I'm wondering if there's been a very recent policy change.

Charter Aok requires C's or better in your concentration classes, but otherwise accepts Ds - you also have the option of not including then on your COSC transcript if that could boost your overall GPA enough to earn honors (and you have enough credits without them).

  7. Excelsior definitely will accept D's to apply to general education credits. However, for GPA purposes unless they're irreplaceable I'd take a few CLEP or DANTES exams and not transfer anything less than a B over.

Also, note that the Credit Tracker is only applicable to BS/CIS degrees, and not Liberal Arts or Business - use the appropriate college catalog to review credit requirements for those.

    Cheers,
