Any idea what the purpose of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers is?

What does it take for an institution to be recognized or reported by the ACCRAO?

I can't get ANYONE to answer these questions...from people with the AACRAO, Northcentral University, OR the State Board for Licensure of Professional Counselors in Texas. The latter has answered a few questions, but they are very vague and not helpful. Is being recognized by the AACRAO included with RA?

I found out that to be a professional counselor in Texas, you have to have a Master's degree - but it has to be 48 hrs in length, be RA, and be "reported as in the AACRAO*."

    * - This is what the Exec. Dir. of the State Board of Licensure
said..and maybe I'm dense or not understanding..but it
    makes NO sense to me.

Anyone have any idea what in the phooey this means? I've got the first two.

And finally, anyone have any idea if NCU acknowledged by the AACRAO? I'm prepared to begin work on an undergraduate degree and eventually a graduate degree at NCU..but they do me no good..unless they meet the requirements for LPC in Texas.

I've been waiting for a response from about 6 different groups/people for the last two-four weeks..tried contacting them several ways and STILL have no response of worth.
HOPEFULLY...some of you guys can help out here..*sighs*

    Thanks..a million.

Hi - This certainly confusing and frustrating for you. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. From the AACRAO site:

AACRAO does have a publication that lists general acceptability of credits and that may be what is being referred to in this case, but that is only a guess on my part. I would check the site, see if the school is a member, call the school ask to speak to the registrar and see what you can find out.

    Good luck.

It is a professional association, like SHRM, ASTD, etc., made up of its individual members. Like many organizations, it has corporate and institutional memberships, too.

I don't see anything remarkably different--or mysterious--about AACRAO when compared to other professional organizations.

Agreed. Which makes what the counseling licensure folks in Texas said all the more odd.
