Best as I can tell they are a California State approved school, outside of that I know nothing about them.

    Greeting,

The name Ryokan College sounds like "Hotel or Inn" in Japanese. I don't trust the name 'cause I speak Japanese, and it sounds weird. Mringer is right, Ryokan College is approved by State of California.

    http://www.cpec.ca.gov/CollegeGuide/Institution.asp?E0333A

    Discription:
"Ryokan College is organized primarily for mature career-oriented men and women with at least two years of undergraduate college work. It conducts residential programs in supportive small-group settings in human behavior, counseling, psychology, and clinical psychology. Through participative learning, requiring the active involvement of students and a humanistic approach, students are challenged to master new skills and new knowledge. Graduates of the Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology programs qualify to sit for California state licensure examinations as marriage, family therapist or psychologists."

I'm not tremendously familiar with it, but from what little I know, I like Ryokan.

They offer a DL Psy.D. and their graduates seem to have a pretty good record on the California psych board exams.

A while back I looked at the 1999 and 2001 exam results. Here are all of the CA-approved schools that had test takers in those two exams, plus several RA programs for comparison:

They are ranked according to pass percentage. The format is: RA/CA, name, rank among CA-approved schools, number who passed the exam/number who attempted it (both years combined), pass percentage. (DL schools in bold.)

    RA UCLA (n/a) 5/5 100%
CA Cal. Inst. Human Science (1) 1/1 100%
    CA W. Grad. Sch. Psych. (1) 2/2 100%
    RA Biola U. (n/a) 10/12 83.83%
    RA U. So. Calif. (n/a) 8/11 72.73%
    RA CSPP-San Diego (n/a) 21/29 72.41%
RA Pac. Grad. Sch. Psych (n/a) 14/20 70%
    RA Fielding I. (n/a) 4/6 66.67%
