Does anyone have experience with the University of Nebraska Distance MBA? The cost is reasonable (<$13,000) and they are AACSB accredited and there are no residency requirements.

I have no real experience with it...

However, a friend of mine is looking to MBA and is looking very hard at UNL, Amherst and Norwich. She received very positive reviews of it when she shopped opinions. In the Midwest especially, UNL has favorable reviews. It does appear to be a new program so you may have a hard time finding any graduates.

One nice thing I see with the program is it appears that they allow the DL students to participate in their career management program. Many schools limit this to the full timers.

I've been looking at Nebraska as well.

Pros: full DL, low cost, AACSB
Cons: not in the top 3 tiers of MBA rankings, brand new program

I'm not ruling it out since I'm probably a year away, but unless there are some very favorable review from the first couple of classes going through the program, I'll probably look elsewhere. It is a cheap, "big name" (as in, school people have heard of), AACSB program, and the curriculum looks decent enough.

Don't know about the MBA program but I did looked at their MPA online program at UN Omaha awhile back. A good program at a good price.

NU is a good state university - ok it's not UC Berkeley, UIUC or UIowa - but very well respected. If you want a higher ranked school it will cost more $$$$$

I spent last summer at UNL

Last summer I studied at UNL.

I have to say, I was quite surprised to find the libraries well stocked, and the the students smart and well-motivated. The place does have stereotypical midwestern values, including curiosity, dedication to learning. People were quite literate and students smarter and better motivated than those I've met at Colorado State University, Colorado, and the University of Alabama.

That said, how does this bear upon the DL grad learner? Only that I think the program will surprise you!

True, it's not Arizona State or the University of Texas. But it is much cheaper than the University of Tulsa and travels better outside the plains states.

Why not ask Kristy7 (the TU mba DL grad)?

PS I also met an English prof - Ph.D from Penn, raised in NYC - there on NEH funded sabatical. She was so delighted and surprised at UNL, she bought her FIRST university sweatshirt! I call that totemic adoration...
