A couple of years ago someone mentioned to me that there is an online program that allows anyone with any regionally accredited Bachelor's degree to earn credit in the courses required to qualify to sit for the CPA exam.

At the time, I visited the website, but have since lost the URL and cannot find it through any search.

Does anyone know who offers this program and how can I contact them?

    Thank you!

  2. 1. Strayer University Online (www.strayer.edu)- a little on the expensive side for my tastes, but they have a diploma program which they advertise as meeting the education requirements in the region to sit for the CPA exam. I know of two people (obviously not accounting undergrads) who did so successfully. My impression is that Strayer was "teaching to the exam" for some of the advanced courses.

    2. Northumberland Community College in PA has a DL-format diploma program which meets the educational requirements for Pennsylvania. Insanely expensive for non-residents, especially given that it's a community college.

    3. Louisiana State University Independent Study offers the combination of courses necessary to sit in Louisiana in their entirety. Polar-opposite in terms of expense (I believe it's $218 per 3-unit course?) and my experience with their IS office has been overwhelmingly positive.

    4. Check the specific requirements of the state(s) you're interested in. Chances are you can fulfill them piecemeal from different sources rather than in a pre-packaged program. Be warned that some state boards are less accepting of DL-earned credits than others, and particularly unaccepting when it comes to CLEPs or other proficiency exams.

    5. Advice given to me by folks who've been successful: Plan on taking a review course for the Uniform CPA Exam regardless of how or where you fulfill the educational requirements.
