Every little while, a new Degreeinfo user will start a new post asking, in essence, for a comparison of the programs that we refer to as the "Big 3". Since this is a recurring theme, I would like to issue a recommendation that an in-depth analysis/comparison of Excelsior, Thomas Edison and Charter Oak be offerred as an article available on the home page of Degreeinfo.

I feel that this would be a great service to new Degreeinfo users and others interested in the whole "Big 3 issue". During the past couple of years, I have read many excellent answers to the "which of the Big 3?" question.

It would be nice to see such an article co-authored by a graduate of Regents/Excelsior, a graduate of Thomas Edison and a graduate of Charter Oak. Since I fall into neither category, I consider myself unqualified to write the article.

    What do you think?...any takers?

    Great idea

    That sounds maaaavalous.
That question comes up so often, it would really be so much easier to direct them to the articles.
I have yet to graduate (April/Mayish COSC) so I'm no good, but there are several cosc allums here.

If the article isn't needed until August or September I would love to work on it. I am actually toying with the idea of getting a degree from both COSC and Excelsior, just depends on the April 3 GRE. Right now I'm a huge booster for COSC.:)

I love the idea. Would it be better to have one article comparing all three schools or three articles, each written by a graduate of one of the big three schools, detailing his or her experiences in pursuit of a degree with the school?

Indeed, I think the contrast and compare model the most useful. Assessment of the pros and cons of each benefits from having the same initial conditions in terms of the perspective, biases, and methodologies employed, of/by the writer. That is to say, benefits by having the same reviewer.

Contrasting and comparing meaningfully, using a set of solitary reviews of colleges, each one written exclusively by a graduate of the school in question, is difficult. Eclectic consideration of an assessment of a single school based on the collected experiences of its graduates, can be invaluable, however.

Of course, a detailed treatment of the pros and cons of the wares (degrees, services, et al) of each of the Big Three, has long been a feature of BA in 4 Weeks* and is thought by some (and not least by me) to be useful.
