On two of TC&U's websites all mention of South Dakota seems to have disappeared. The new student records office (which appears to be a convenience address) is in Metairie, LA. The statement at the bottom of both front pages, which formerly described TC&U as being a registered corporation in South Dakota, now simply says it is a registered corporation. The information on the Degree Consultants' website has not yet changed and still lists the Sioux Falls Mailboxes Etc. umcampus. Louisiana seems an unlikely ultimate destination, but it's interesting to note how simple it is to move an entire "university" just by getting a new mailbox and changing a few lines of code. ------------------ Bill Gossett
Metairie, L.A. has managed to find itself home to some interesting schools. Quite an industry for the town. Or at least for the mail box industry. North
I agree. It must have been very difficult to move those mammoth sized doctoral dissertations such as the one linked at degree.net. North
Very true. TC&U is registered in Louisiana, and has likely always been run from there. Their affiliated "school", Ashington U., also sports a Metairie representative's address, although it's registered in the BVI. ------------------ Bill Gossett
The interesting thing about this is it shows an appalling lack of due diligence on the part of the Trinity C&U people. Louisiana passed a law about a year ago that basically said that an unaccredited school needed to be actively pursuing (i.e., in conversation with, and/or have applied for) accreditation with the Southern Association or DETC in order to be able to continue to operate in Louisiana. Since Trinity hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of qualifying even to apply, I can't imagine why they chose that particular location, unless the South Dakota MBE has a reciprocal arrangement with the one in Metarie (I suspect that they've shared a number of customers in the past several years.) Even Hawaii would have been a better choice. So who is ahead in the pool so far?
Chip, I'd guess that calling the address a student records center rather than stating it plainly as the address of the school, is an attempt to clear South Dakota without appearing to operate from Louisiana. In other words, a delaying action until the infrastructure is in place wherever they end up registering it. ------------------ Bill Gossett
Quite true, North! It appears to be relatively easy to relocate an entire *university* (campus, faculty, administration, oh yes, and PO Box number), from South Dakota to Louisiana. The dissertations were the challenging part. If Trinity C&U awarded 1000 Ph.D.'s while in South Dakota (hypothetically), and if each dissertation averaged 12 pages as the one alluded to, this would be 12,000 pages of documentation which would need to be relocated. Allowing for hardcover binding, these dissertations could be placed in a box the size of large screen TV, over-nighted via Fed Ex to Louisiana, so the entire relocation process could take place in approximately 24 hours. Technology is great isn't it? But technically, Trinity C&U maintains an archive of material for only um-30 days, or is it um-30 minutes? Russell
This is confusing. http://www.trinity-college.edu has been modified to eliminate all reference to South Dakota. Now suddenly TC&U is in Louisiana. This is the 'Trinity 30-day...' version. But the http://www.degreeconsultants.com and http://www.trinitycollegeuk.com versions still believe that TC&U is in South Dakota. Won't they be surprised when they show up for work and find an empty mailbox. This is the 'accelerated...' version. While the http://www.tcu.ws and http://www.4-college-degree.com sites seem to be seriously degraded and are perhaps in the midst of modification as we speak. This is the 'trinity college and university' version. Concerning where they will find a new home, well the British Virgin Islands works for Ashington. Perhaps Degree Consultants' TC&U will file registration papers there too, and call their Louisiana office an "extension branch" or something. I wonder if that would allow them to skirt the new Lousiana law?
Very true the whole library and all the scholastic records that are being kept, I guess it might even fill up one 5 1/4 floppy!!!
No notice or anything! I guess this if par for the course when one is employed by a less-than-less-than-less-than-wonderful institution of higher learning. Russell
These have been changed as of early this morning. The trinitycollegeuk link now redirects to degreeconsultants. ------------------ Bill Gossett
Don't forget your class ring! And make suour you get one with 'BS' engraved on the side.. http://12.29.11.200/trinityclassring.html
Doesn't the Trinity class ring have a small LED window on one side, which changes the address each time the school relocates? I hope the batteries are good, as it seems to be changing rather frequently! Russell
