This may have been posted before. If it has been, I do apologize. Does Open University of UK have DL Phd's in history or social science. I looked at Bear's Guide and am not finding it here. If there was a thread, if you all could be so kind as to point me to it. Thank you. I need full DL, if it is possible. Cant travel to jolly ole England.

IMHO, England is ole but not too jolly.

Though Tony must be quite jolly today.

Open University does have people working on research degrees in Social Sciences. Take a look at http://www.open.ac.uk/research-school/. I don't know whether a PhD could be pursued outside of the EU.

does OU in fact has DL PhD´s at all?
I always thought they´d only have internal/staff doctoral students...

They do have "part-time external" research students:
    • Realising that not all students are able to study for a research degree on a full-time basis, the OU offers a more flexible approach - part-time external study. Part-time external study is just that. You will use research facilities in your locality, backed up by regular meetings with your supervisor(s) at mutually agreed times. ...

Like all the OU's directly registered research students, part-time external students each have their own internal supervisor who is a member of the OU's academic staff at Walton Hall or one of the Regional Centres. An external supervisor may be appointed as well, usually a member of staff in a higher education institution closer to the student's home.

Another issue that may require some clarification is whether the Open University now accepts students from the USA. The last time I checked the answer was "no."

My experience is also that OU says "no" to Americans.
