According to the website hyperlinked below, professional accreditations do not compare to the level of a regional accreditation. The comment was probably based on point #4, that is "A School of Nursing can only be accredited after receiving regional accreditation". What do you think? The link is here.

It seems that this college is seeking institutional accreditation (RA) while the Nursing Department is seeking professional accreditation (either NLNAC or CCNE). Their website was reviewed recently (1/13/04), so the contents are pretty current.

I read it as you do. They are seeking their NLN and will take that while waiting for the RA. I honestly thought a school had to be RA before the NLN would register the program, guess I'm wrong.

Anyone ever heard of this school. I could find no reference as to how long they've been in existence.

The importance of professional accreditation varies with different professions. For example, it is a very big deal for a psychology program to be accredited by the APA.

Ike - In the business school world, RA is a requirement for professional accreditation. In the case of ACBSP, for example, the first requirement for U.S. schools is to show a letter proving your RA status before you can go for professional accreditaiton.

NLN accreditation allows students to sit for the boards in all states (except for Regents / Excelsior graduates in Florida as it lacks the clinical component required for Florida licensure, but that is another discussion) .

I have never heard of this school either, but the value of a BSN ( it is an RN to BSN program so the nurse would need to licensed already) program from a non RA and non NLA accredited school is dubious in my opinion.

I did look at the NLNAC rules and a school must be accredited by a RA ( unless it is a hospital based Diploma program) There is no allowance for national accreditation.

I am inclined to avouch that the school seems genuine notwithstanding my lack of epochal data to establish the age of the college or its legitimacy. Registered in both Utah and California, information on the school’s website shows that it is located in two cities -- Cypress, CA and Salt Lake City, UT. From the school’s website, it appears that most of their programs could be completed at a distance. They offer programs in Business Administration, Law, and Nursing. The university may expectedly seek RA from NCA since Utah colleges fall under NCA jurisdiction. I envisage the school receiving RA within a reasonable period of time particularly if the administrators of the college do a very good homework and endeavor their best. NCA has demonstrated amicability towards DL in the past.
