How many of you have done work in two programs at one time. I'm wondering because my interests are slightly diverse and I was wondering if it's possible (albeit slower) to work in two master's programs at the same time. When looking at people's degrees after their signatures it appears that some of you where doing concurrent studies during the same time. If you are one who has done this, did you have any kind of normal life while attempting this? What were the problems that made it more difficult, would you do it again, would you recommend this route to anyone? Thanks.

For about a year I did two doc programs at once. But one was by research and the other by coursework. I could select courses in the second which were cognate to the research in the first.

Nevertheless, despite my working only part-time, it was very taxing. Finally I gave up the second program [though not just due to being overworked] so that I could finish the first in a reasonable time...three years.

I would not recommend concurrent grad programs in two diverse disciplines. But were the subjects related, it might even improve the quality of learning in both.

I'm doing two masters degrees concurrently (see my sig) and haven't had a problem; it all comes down to what your other responsibilities are. If I was doing a fulltime job I probably wouldn't be able to do two degrees (both of which are residential).
