I received an email from TUI just before Christmas and was told that they needed a ccopy of my transcript from COSC to complete my application to their program.

I received an email yesterday and was told that I have been accepted to their MS-ITM program...how nice since I have completed almost seven out of the nine needed classes.

Is it normal to a school to be this out of sync with paperwork?
I was surprised that I could enroll in seven classes without being officially accepted into the program.

  2. It could be worse...you could have completed everything and been denied your degree until you registered.

Seems strange - how long between your original registration date and now?

    Someone probably left...

and they are trying to pick up where that person left off. I had the same thing occur with financial aid. Had you sent the transcript before? Actually, had your school sent it is the correct question?

I registered in May, I think.

I really don't remember. My guess is that I sent all copies of my transcripts to them to get into the program and never sent the official copies.

It just seems wierd that it took them this long to catch it.

    I know ...

I had to have my school send them official copies. As for the other, they appear to have a lot of turnover in their offices. Not uncommon I think in high cost California. I had to do my FA packet twice because the first lady I worked with left. Have you filed to graduate after this term? If so, they are reviewing your records now and probably just noticed they didn't have the official transcripts.

It just seems weird that they are having accreditation problems - got to cross those Ts and dit those Is.

    Hi Randell,

I congratulate you for almost completing your master degree program. Based on your information (COSC, 2003), I assumed you have attended TUI in less than one year. Most if not all regionally accredited institutions allow their students to take up to 12 semester credit hours without fully admitted to a graduate degree program. If TUI registration officials contacted you to request of your COSC official transcript before Christmas of 2003, I assumed they misplaced your COSC transcripts and realized that your total credits (taken and registered) are over 12 credit hours limit. This type of error does happen in brick and mortar institutions too. If I were you and thinking this is out of ordinary, I will call Dr. Gold to inform him of the situation. Being a TUI student, I do believe one of our responsibilities is to let the school administrators know of errors and mistakes. Dr. Gold is only a call or an email away. Your swift action will make TUI being better and more efficient.

    Best regards,
