I have a co-worker who is a doctor (DPM) and she said she just earned a PhD in Psychology from St Regis University. She also said she looked at Capella, Walden, and few others and picked SRU because it was a legal schools and it appealed to her. She said SRU is located in Florida and they set up her clinics for her. She worked with someone in NY on the weekends to complete her clinic studies.

Is SRU legit? They sound like they are based on this type of information. Without all the details and opinion about academic rigor, is the school legal and legit? Is it accredited by any recognized agency? Is it “state approved”?

I know there is many threads regarding SRU but they seem to be full of mostly opinion and I did not see anything concrete.

    What is the deal?

The postings on SRU, opinions aside, is that they do not have any legitimate accreditation that would be accepted by any reputable school (unless by mistake).

Eh? SRU has always claimed to be in Liberia. Any details on this Florida location?

SRU is a degree mill. I haven't heard of anyone doing any real learning at SRU. They seem to be a send your money in and get a diploma type of mill.

Okay they do have some tests. For example they offer one test to see if you're eligible for their AA degree and one study indicated that if you choose your answers totally randomly then 75% of the people would pass. The story is made more colorful by saying that 75% of pigeons would have the required life experience and be eligible for an SRU AA degree.

If your co-worker has a DPM and a PhD, the DPM will receive recognition.

The SRU PhD diploma can be used to bandage someone's foot if they come into the clinic with an ingrown toenail (assuming her DPM is a doctor of podiatric medicine).

If she is a Doctor of Pediatric Medicine, the St. Regis PhD diploma can be used as a diaper.:D
