I received a f/up letter from Century today. It states that they're listed in the Directory of Postsecondary Institutions....and that such a listing "is the one most often used and relied upon by the U.S. Embassies and the various Ministries of Education worldwide."

..another attempt by Century to confuse consumers

Who are the publishers for this directory?

I believe the list is published by US dept of education. The big "but" is that such a listing is merely a directory. It includes the RA and Detc schools, schools with other recognized accreditations, respected unaccredited schools, as well as less-than-wonderful unaccredited schools. I just think that CU tries hard to pull everthing they can to confuse people.

  4. This is published by the National Center for Education Statistics, part of the US Department of Education. It's based on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), surveys designed to collect data from all primary providers of postsecondary education.

The info is online and searchable as "IPEDS College Opportunities On-Line" at http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cool/ (click on the IPEDS College Opportunities On-Line or IPEDS COOL links)

This web page includes a cautionary note:
Sure enough, if you search for "century" Century University is listed -- along with several Century 21 Real Estate schools, Century Community and Technical College and Century School of Cosmetology. But if you search for "century" AND check the box for Title IV participating -- then the only matches are Century Community and Technical College and Century School of Cosmetology.
