    Greetings all,

What is the collective wisdom of this forum regarding the Universidad Abierta? Is it a Mexican institution or other, and if either, how GAAP? I have searched the site, but could not find much in that regard. However, I must admit my Spanish is quite rusty and it could have slipped me by! Thanks for input.

By Job, I think I have found it:

    What say you?

You've documented a state educational license from SLP. How does this relate to federal accreditation (if there is such a thing) in Mexico? Is state licensing more meaningful in Mexico than in the USA? Clearly the institution is fully legal and the website looks impressive. I hope someone can answer the "gaap" questions.

    Gus?

In Mexico, it is the minister of education (Secretaria de educacion publica) that accredits institutions. The University seems to be accredited by the minister of education of Mexico.

You might want to contact the rep in Chicago

    http://www.universidadabierta.edu.mx/Principal/Represent/Chicago.htm

The university is very affordable, less than thousand dollars per semester for its DBA program, however, I didn't see any option to complete the degree in english. Perhaps the rep in the US can give us more information.

    Universidad Abierta & Columbus University

    Hello Kenneth,

The above two universities are accredited in their countries. The are very good institutions with a long reputation. Both of them offer the possibility of getting a degree completely by distance learning.

Columbus University (in Panama - www.columbus.edu) is a great option for those looking for an affordable Master degree.

Both of them will require you have an advanced level of Spanish language skills to succeed in your studies. Great for those Americans that wish to pursue an international degree in a second language!
