Hello, A speaker came to our church recently rev'ing up interest in Logos Christian College and Graduate School. I saw it mentioned in an article about Degree Mills. Any opinions/experiences to share? thanks!
Florida lists them as a licensed school. The LOGOS website clearly states they are not accredited by a recognized agency. There are many other people posting here much more versed in the value of an unaccredited degree from a religious school. My take (shared by many) is that you should be very sure the school and degree meet your present and future needs before you undertake their program. Rich Douglas
Logos has no recognized accreditation, therefore, the degrees would not enjoy broad recognition. There are too many properly accredited options, especially at the bachelor's and master's level, to seriously consider a school such as Logos. This is not an attempt to demean Logos' objective of providing training for the ministry, only that their degrees are not highly regarded, due to a lack of any type of reputable accreditation. Depending on the level of education you are interested in (eg Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate) there are a number of accredited and affordable options. Give us some details. If you want unaccredited personal interest courses I can think of a couple of options: Bob Jones University offers Biblical Studies courses (non credit - although some can be upgraded with additional work). You can earn recognition from certifcates through a Diploma in Biblical Studies. Courses range from 12.00 for a written course to 30.00 for a video course. http://www.bju.edu Look under the extended education link. Family Radio has the Family Radio School of the Bible. Courses cover most biblical subjects (including greek and hebrew) and are free. You can earn up to an unaccredited Associates in Religious Education. http://www.familyradio.com North
I should add that BJU is of course fundamentalist theologically. Family Radio is Reformed (Calvinist) Theologically. North
