Can anyone provide information about City University. Are they reputable and respected?

Yes and yes. Rather than post these broadly based questions (that you could easily find the answers to if you looked), why don't you tell the good people around here what you're looking for in particular? You'll likely get enough advice to keep you going for quite awhile! [IMG]

Unless Charlie is inquiring about City University Los Angeles, in which case the answer would be: no and no.

So true! City University Los Angeles (which goes by CULA) was a California-authorized school under the old 94310(c) section of the code. When the Authorized category was eliminated, schools were given time to move up to Approved, leave the state, or shut down. It appears CULA did none of the above.

"CULA," it seems, is a handy moniker to confuse customers, most from Asia, with the more-famous Southern California school using those initials in a slightly different order. [IMG]

    From their web page:

"City University Los Angeles was organized as a California post-secondary “distance education” institution in 1974, and operated as a recognized California institution from 1974 to 1995, some twenty-one years. CULA was “approved to issue academic degrees” by the Commission on Higher Education in the Nation of Hawai'i on January 17, 1995.
Directors of Evaluations and Management International, Inc., the non-profit California Corporation, formed City University Los Angeles, Inc., an Alabama not-for-profit corporation and in 1996."

I do not know what this means, except they are no longer a California school. I don't think they're an Alabama school, either. Hawaii (or even Hawi'i)?

    About accreditation:

"City University Los Angeles is listed as a 'Member in Good Standing' with the Association of Accredited Private Schools, University Park, Washington."

Whatever that means. The rest of this drivel can be found at:

Charlie, you can go to the search engine in this forum and find all the messages that have been posted concerning City University (or any other topic).

No, I am not fussing at you - every newbie has to learn about the search function - one way or the other.

    Washitaw de Dugdahmoundyah

Now there's a phrase no one is likely to search for. But, as I report in the 14th ed. of Bears' Guide, CULA claimis recognition from "the Ancient and Sovereign Empire Washitaw de Dugdahmoundyah, earliest inhabitants of what is, today, Corporate United States of America..."

And we make fun of accreditation from Shoshones and Malawians!
