I am researching alternative PhD in Business programs that are recognized and accredited by a respectful agency one that can be used in the US for teaching. I am looking for a research only school preferable. Can anyone lead the way to a school and web site? Thanks
Typically, the research-only doctoral programs come from schools located in Britain, Australia and South Africa. There was mention recently of one located in Amsterdam also (if I remember correctly it came from a rather good school too). There are more schools than I can really list and so it's probably best that I leave that to others who are more business oriented and are more familiar with the details of various programs. You could begin by looking a Jonnie's Distance Learning Page: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/2386/distance.html There you'll find a listing of many business programs along with the links to the various schools. Good luck, Jack
Grenoble - It does have a oonce a year residence in which there is classtime, but dissertation based. I checked with my University and I will be able to obtain a full time position with this degree.
check doctoral programs by european universities, I'd point especially to Sweden or Germany, no class work, no phd program fees. You need to write a 4-6 year dissertation in business, it might be hard to get accepted as phd student though if you don't have any close ties to any staff as competition is quite rough.
Thanks for all your replies. I am wondering what you all think of these particular schools. Let me know Glasgow Buisness School & RMIT
Nothing wrong with either Glasgow or RMIT. Though if you have to do any campus visits, I'd take Melbourne in their summer rather than Glasgow any day (I've lived in Glasgow, it took me a couple of years to get warm and dry again after I moved ;-). Other than that, you might want to look at Heriot Watt, Aston and Henley in the UK for DBAs as well. Angela
RMIT is a very good Aussie school, but it is primarily a technology school. Also figure on having to go there a minimum of once a year for at least two weeks. This seems to be the normally expected program fro external students, and while they will talk about possibly waving that requirement don't count on it.
