I a looking to get my MBA and would like to hear some opinions of Regis from some people who have taken classes from this institution. The phone representative made it sound like a great place, but they are supposed to aren't they? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks!

Regis University in Colorado is fine, but avoid Saint Regis University.

All institutions named Regis are probably ultimately named after the Jesuit saint, Jean-François Régis (1597-1640).

What is now Regis University in Colorado, first named Las Vegas College and then Sacred Heart College, adopted its present name in 1921.

Regis Philbin, born in 1933 in New York, was named after the high school that his father, Frank Philbin, had attended: Regis High School, a Jesuit high school in Manhattan, founded in 1914.

Saint Regis University claims to have been founded in Liberia in 1984.

Sorry to have gone off on a tangent. I was expecting someone more knowledgeable to chime in.

Regis University is Regionally Accredited, which is the highest form of institutional accreditation. But its business programs are not professionally accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Here is the list of AACSB-accredited program schools:

However, one of our Senior Members, Cyrus Vanover, has an MBA from Regis University, and reports:
"Although AACSB is widely discussed on this forum, I've discovered that most people don't have the first clue about this form of accreditation. Most HR personnel have never heard of it and yes, even some university representatives are ignorant in this area as well."

So the lack of AACSB accreditation may not matter to you.

I guess it really wouldn't matter how well accepted Regis is, since I am not really using this MBA to advance my career in my field. I am going to use the tools in starting my own business. I just would like some info on amount of time spent per week, how helpful the faculty are, etc.

Thanks for the history lesson, though. I nearly looked into St. Regis, you probably saved me some time.

    Regis University as a whole...

is very highly ranked by the US News & World Report in their annual review. No, the MBA is not AACSB accredited but it will be coming from an otherwise well reviewed school.
