Salem Int'l U or U of North Alabama?

If you had the choice between between these two schools when it it comes to getting an MBA which school would you chose and why? Also I'm interested in knowing which school will be more accepted and respected in Canada?

    Bo,

I have U of North Alabama MBA on my list of future degrees. As far as I know Salem is a very small University as compared to UNA. Although both are RA but I always believe State universities are better in terms of value and respect. When you invest your time and money you should invest in the best possible. Here is a little about UNA.

"The University of North Alabama is a comprehensive regional state university offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs, serving residential and commuting students. It occupies a beautiful historic site that exceeds 100 acres. UNA shares the broad purpose of all institutions of higher learning for the discovery, preservation, and transmission of knowledge through teaching, research, and public service. More importantly, UNA is earnestly committed to ensuring that all students receive full value for their investment of personal and family resources in obtaining a top quality university education . This claim is supported by a tradition, dating back to 1830"

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

I am also leaning more towards the UNA MBA. However after talking with the admissions department I learned that with the UNA if you're bachelor degree in in a non business major you will have to take 5 pre-req courses. I was told that the pre-req courses will cost about $5000($4500 tuition & $500 books) more on top of the MBA tuition. Also I was told that the pre-req courses will take about 6-8 months to complete on top of the time it will take you to complete the MBA. So this is kind of a big turn off for me. SIU MBA program is designed in a way that there is no pre-req courses required no matter what you're undergrad major. Even if you don't have a bachelor degree in a business major you can still complete the MBA is 18 months.

Honestly, for you the best choice of all would be an MBA from York, U of T or some other in Ontario. Very much respected and accepted in Canada ;).

    Bo,

you do not have to take the pre-reqs at UNA. They have an articulation with Columbia Southern University and you can transfer in two graduate level classes. Significantly cheaper. You folks may also want to look at Troy State-Dothan. They now have an on-line MBA same accreditation as UNA.

I would choose UNA. If nothing else, their championship football team gets their name out there. On the other hand, I've never heard of Salem Intl.

I must say I disagree with you this oneEtech.

There is a lot of good schools out there that offer MBA programs for people with a non business BA/BS, where they don't have to take any pre-req courses and can complete their MBA in 18 months or less.

    Example: CSUDH, Bellvue U

Bo, that is one option if you want to go with UNA. Note, it is an option for UNA. Someone is suggesting you an option, you dont have to follow it. You asked a question and you got options/suggestion, this being one of them. I said I may use it because I plan to go with UNA if I go for MBA. ofcourse there are many other programs (good and bad) that take non business grads.
