Hello, could someone give me some serious advise on Ambai University (American Management & Business Administration Institute University) at www.ambaiuniversity.net ?

Not only about their accreditation (if any) but also on the quality of the courses and contents.

I have seen the coments of their former graduates on the web site and if all this is true, so this must be a very cheap and convenient option to get an MBA!?

    Thanks for your time,

From the Ambal U. website site you posted I believe that this statement says it all:

"AMBAI/AmbaiU is a Free International Virtual Teaching Institution, whose faculty members are located in different countries and interact among them and with students via the Web. They are executives of multinational corporations who donate their time and effort for this public service program. AMBAI/AmbaiU's Cambridge, MA address is a postal address only, not the physical location of AMBAI/AmbaiU. AMBAI/AmbaiU is not incorporated, is not domiciled and has not applied for accreditation in any country or state. The AMBAI/AmbaiU programs are offered with the sole purpose of enhancing the student's management skills; they are not designed to be used for admittance or transfer to other colleges or universities, or to meet any particular licensing or accreditation standards"

They are looking for legitimacy by going through the certified MBA route. Becoming a certified MBA is also a controversial subject. However, I would guess that if you took their courses and passed the Certified MBA exam you can ascertain that you have acquired some learning. But the same can be said for many unrecognized programs -- you can obtain learning but the credential will have little to no value.

With the large number of accredited MBA programs out there you should look into them. In addition, Ambai can't even get the degree name right. In their diploma posting for the MBA the diploma shows a Master of Science degree: http://www.ambaiuniversity.net/diplomaMBAsample.htm

There is no accreditation, go to the bottom of their web page.

Here's the results of a Google search I did on them last February, posted in a previous thread:

    http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7446

It looks like they have dropped their "accreditation" claim, although the "accreditor's" website remains up.

In February I wondered if AMBAI was operating legally in Massachusetts. My guess is that they probably aren't, which might be the reason for their new insistance that their Cambridge Mass. address is just a mail drop. Apparently they are now taking the European-style "everywhere and nowhere" approach:

AMBAI/AmbaiU is not incorporated, is not domiciled and has not applied for accreditation in any country or state.

This school seem good from a learning point of view. I would agree that if you are looking for direct recognition then they may not be the best choice.

I think the focus should be on learning in most cases. Maybe you could look at some UK bodies that offer exams that are recognized in this area. The course could be used as a prep for the exams.

The course seem cheap and looks attractive for someone who is qualified in their respective field but wants management appreciation at a low cost..

you teach what you are paid for?

It sounds like the (unpaid!) teachers are gonna be kind of busy, running their multinational corporations and all that. Not too much time to "talk" with their students, I would suspect.

The best way to validate the experience of this school is for a student to actually feedback what their experience there was like.

Its hard to pass judgement on the school without proper knowledge of the actual experience.

We seem to imply that if someone from a known Diploma Mill starts a school, that makes the school to fall on some suspect list right away.

It all comes down to the actual experience. I think ABET open University is very similar to this one..

Degrees aside, couldn't AMBAI at least offer it's certificates legally? Like a lot of organizations that offer certificates of completion for taking a 1 day "Human Resource Management" seminar for example. Could 'seminar certificates' even be listed on a resume?

Say, for example, if AMBAI dropped "University" and went by some other kind of name, could they, in theory, offer certificates (like those obtained at business seminars) ONLY without "educational regulation"?

I'd like a better understanding of this.
