There's been some discussion on this board regarding the use of COSC, Excelsior, TESC, transcripts to "clean up" academic records by eliminating poor past grades. I just noticed this on the Cal. State Dominguez Hills Website. http://www.csudh.edu/hux/admreq.html

"Compilation-style transcripts (such as those from University of New York Regents, Thomas Edison State College, or similar programs) are not sufficient for evaluation.... individual transcripts from ALL schools are required."

This was in regard to their MA Humanities program.

Every school I've ever considered applying to is the same, they all require official transcripts from every school you have ever attended.

I am not sure what this means?

what if you only attended Excelsior or TESC only and no other college ? in this case would you not get admission ? even though you have completed your degree at one of the big three college ? your transcript would not be accepted by this university ? Does it mean you are being discriminated because you have a degree from Excelsior, TESC or similar ?

Most schools require transcripts from all schools attended. So, if you transfered credits from 5 or 6 schools to Excelsior for your undergraduate degree you must also send transcripts from those schools even though they appear on your Excelsior transcripts when you apply to graduate school. If Excelsior, TESC or COSC is your only school, then you will only need one transcript.

If you search for "credit bank" this has been pointed out several times. While a big three degree is a valuable degree the whole credit bank idea is silly.

I was also wondering if a college has given you transfer credit for courses but there is no grade associated with it – would Excelsior of Charter Oak still give the student credit for these courses provided they were on a college transcript from an accredited school? Has anyone had any situation like this?

COSC will give you a "P" for some CLEPS and a grade for other CLEPS depending on your score. I have not taken a course elsewhere that did not have a greade

I have just two other questions – if you have enough credits to graduate and pay the fees to either college – about how long does it take to get your degree?

It will take 6-8 weeks for the eval and then you must write your essay if you plan to take the "Individualize Studies" route. This will add about three months because there are evaluated every other month I think
