    this is ridiculous

Let's see who has "accredited" IIU, and whose recognition IIU has chosen to display on its web site.

    1. EQAC (http://www.eqac.org/), which also accredits fine schools like American Coastline university, Bircham International University, International University of Fundamental Studies (whose ISP continues to block access to their site),... The EQAC "Commission Members" include 6Dr. Richard J. Hoyer, an "Academician of the Russian Academy of Science" and "Vice Chairman State Duma Committee on Foreign Relations-USA" (although this site, whose domain was registered to Mr. Hoyer, was recently closed).

    2. The Accreditation Governing Commission (http://www.agc-usa.org/), whose Executive Committee includes "Dr. Richard Hoyer, Chief Accrediting Commissioner." AGC-USA also accredits American Coastline University, Breyer State University, Bircham International University, among other enterprises.

    3. "Association of Distance Learning Programs (ADLP), a division of NAHE." This site features links to, for example, 6Dr. Hoyer's International College of Homeland Security, recently ejected from New York State, and beginning cohabitation with the Hans Kempe's GKA System's operations in Switzerland. The NAHE member list at http://www.nahighered.org/Affiliations.htm includes a remarkable list of enterprises: Advancedu Peer Evaluation Programs, American Coastline University, Bircham International University, Concordia College and University, Kingdom College of Natural Health, Saint Regis University, and so on.

    So who are we kidding?

A look at the IIU "commendations" page shows that the "Best Wishes from The Prime Minister of United Kingdom" link points to a polite rejection by the Prime Minister's office of an invitation to attend an IIU graduation ceremony. Excruciatingly polite, the Prime Minister's office seems to generate a written response to ALL communications, including an email message I sent voicing an opinion about military engagements in Iraq.

So I can't imagine that the reference that George Brown mentioned is a particularly reliable source of information.

    Re: this is ridiculous

Erm, I was actually asking about the British Qualifications 33rd edition, not EQAC et al, which are old news. The British Qualifications 33rd edition *may* be a reliable verification.

    Cheers,

    George

    what I meant

    Hi George,

What I meant is that it's hard to imagine that the British Qualification is reliable while simultaneously finding that IIU is an organization that chooses to display EQAC, etc. credentials as well. I would imagine that the BQ judgement is likely to be ill-informed at best.

    Re: what I meant

Yeah, I know, but as you can see, IIU like to list *everything* on their website - its a matter of seeing the wood from the trees. The text has got me mystified though.

    Cheers,

    George

    B.Q.

    George,

The B.Q. Publication, to my knowledge, is a reliable source for professional qualifications and degrees offered in the UK. However, I believe that IIU has done nothing more than purchase an advertising space in the directory.
