I just received an email fro Laura Mancinni Admissions advisor for concord university sayin that if I do not call her for a telephone interview she will close my file in 5 days. Its pretty interesting since I sent her an email a few weeks ago telling her that I was very busy with year end obligations but that I would contact her soon. I took an online apptitude survey from Concord and they sent me a book about the school. This was before I lucked out with John Bears information and that there were several Law Schools that provided D/L courses. I guess I doesnt occur to these admissions people that I might be researching other schools. Traderneil

Reminds me of a car salesman "If you don't buy right now, the boss is gonna cancel this great offer..."

In the last 3 months I have contacted and received information from multiple schools (at least 25) in the US and UK. I have found that most will contact me with some sort of "enroll now, tuition is going up", or "contact us or we will delete your file" email, including Touro, AIU, Kaplan, HW, etc. They all do this. It's very very disturbing to me and yes, I find it very used car salesman in tone. I was especially incensed with AIU, who, when I said that 26,000 was too much money just to finish a bachelor's degree, stated they have one of the lowest tuitions around, yeah, right! Had I not found this site, I may have believed that, I may also have enrolled at Kennedy Western (I had no idea they weren't legitimate, they have a very very slick package).

Every day from this site, I find at least one more school I look at for a master's degree. And I will keep reading here as I complete my bachelor's. Sooner or later I'll find the right fit.

I remain, however, very unhappy with the tone of many of the contacts, by email and phone, that I received with such high pressure tactics. How many people fall for this? Thankfully I was smart enough to dig around for several weeks and educate myself on "higher education".

I have a former brother-in-law who cycles through various customer-service phone jobs every few months, then gets laid off from them. Last I heard he was doing cold calling selling some diploma mill Illinois university with a grandiose-sounding name. I forget what it was. They laid him off also.

What a bizarre intersection: US higher education and US advertising/marketing.
