The following list is my remaining requirements from Excelsior. Many people here seem to have a great familiarity with the best (read: easiest and cheapest) tests to take to gain credit for these courses. Can I get a few suggestions on which ones to take? - Ethics (this can be satisfied with the Excelsior College "Ethics:Theory & Practice" examination) - Discrete Mathematics - Calculus 1 or Statistics (this can be satisfied with the Excelsior College "Statistics" examination) - Computer Architecture/Assembly Language - Data Structures - Operating Systems P.S. is anyone on this board affiliated with either TESC or COSC? I am trying to get a good idea how I would fair on a portfolio review without paying the 100's$ & 2 months wait time.
Would a symbolic logic course work? LSU Independent Study program has a couple of logic courses, the Intermediate Symbolic Logic course might work. The Elementary Logic course I am taking has the standard truth tables, sets, and Boolean algebra. What do they want?
I took the ethics exam and got a 'c' with no study. Being less concerned with gpa than expediency, I took the test after looking at the sample info from excelsior.
http://www.ideal.swt.edu/correspondence/Courses.html This is a link to SW Texas's correspondence courses. There is a discrete math course in the math catagory. It is 85 per credit hour and an additional 25 dollar fee. So, 280 for a 3 semhr course? If you don't mind correspondence style courses (like LSU) then this is for you. Bill
forgot to add; on the excelsior website, there is a place called distancelearn. It lists other schools where these courses are available. You can search by school, pricepoint, etc.
Thanks for the info, I'm going to see if my work / life / prior learning might score me ethics & Computer Arch./Assembley. Also I have read that TESC will(can) take a class that I got a C/D, add some relavant work, or take into consideration other classes and give credit(GPA) worth more than the C/D? Is this in any way correct?
