    Greetings to the MIGHTY FORUM~~~~

    Yes, Yes.

I'm looking for the M.Ed. in "reading" or "teaching reading" on the market that has, at least, has some learning at a distance. But the catch is, i need to find the one with the MOST transfer of credit.

I've checked with all of the major ones listed on gradschools.com, and almost every accredited MEd in "reading" in the US requires 30 credits, with practically no transfer of credit (3-6 credits).

I would be fine with doing a whole M.Ed., but I've already taken most of the core courses that would go in an MEd "reading" because they are requirements for the CA Sing. Subj. teaching credential that I just finished.

Point Loma, the campus here in Bakersfield, has a pretty sweet deal because you can transfer all the courses over into the MEd there, but they don't offer the emphasis in reading.

    Options:
    1. Ask to create a learning contract for an MEd in reading at the campus here in Bakersfield. Request that I do independent study with guidance for all the courses that do not transfer from the credential.
    2. Find some australian degree that offers this, transfer it all in, and hope it doesn't look like one of Gert's "pseudodegrees."
    3. Customize one, transfer it all in if one of the "custom" schools will accept it all. However, setback here is that such degrees lack the homogeneity with others that junior college administrators like to see.
    4. Drop it. Get a PhD in theology or english.

I asked this question about a year ago and I haven't come up with anything since. I'm hoping there is some new wisdom out there.

    Yours,

    Chris
