Hey, I'm brand new at this sort of thing but I accidentally surfed into this website and read a few messages about Catholic distance ed programs and wished I had had this type of ciommunication when I began my search a year ago. But fortunately I am in a great and totally solid Catholic program that does NOT sacrifice intellectual cotnent just because the program in via distance. I have looked exstensively into several Catholic programs and would be glad to she the info with amy seekers. i am presently a grad student in the M.A. in pastoral theology program from St. Joseph's College, Maine an dit is GREAT. Reasonable reading adssignments combined with reasonable length relfection papers and a term paper (at least this is how it is for my Moral Theology class). And for those of you who may be wondering about the orthodox content: required texts are Pope John Paul II's Veritatis Spelndor, St. THomas Aquinas' Summa (on the Law), and the Holy Bible. Recommended readins are sound, too. Again, I welcome anyone who wishes to ask more. Pax.
Welcome. This might be a good time to repost a webpage from the US Catholic bishops listing Catholic DL programs that are open to the laity, originally posted by Hille back in May. http://www.usccb.org/laity/laysurvey/schools.htm There's a surprising number of programs. Most of them are remote-site but in-person, but some are online or correspondence.
There is also the Australian Catholic University. I completed their Graduate Certificate of Arts in Theology. The award will come this coming April. I also went on to enroll in their M.A. in Theology program whereby the Graduate Certificate was my prerequisite. All work can be done online. http://www.acu.edu.au John
