  1. Thanksgiving Day . . . and I must thank this forum and all who post!

Just received my diploma for Masters in Humanities from Cal State U Dominguez Hills. Would never have gone for it if I had not heard about it here.

Hey. . . my diploma is signed by Gray Davis! Future grads will have Arnold S.'s signature. Will that be a collector's item. . . ?

Anyone interested in the school will find a good thread here:

    Thanks again!

    Congratulations!
When I finish my MS, I plan to take some classes toward the Masters in Humanities.

    Any suggestion?

Well done! And how splendid it is that this program is still doing a good job and maintaining a fine standard twenty years after my wife went through it. The only sad part is that Nicole of HUX no longer answers messages here, although I believe she still looks in from time to time. (Hi, Nicole!)

    Congrats!

For future students -- one way to get an Arnold autograph.:)

It is, indeed, an honorable accomplishment. Good for you!

    Congratulations!

It's kind of hard to believe that the never-ending process of due dates and paper deadlines is finally over, isn't it?

My HUX diploma has Gray Davis' signature on it too, but Arnold ("I am a cybernetic organism") Schwarzenegger's would have been cooler, I think. Oh well...

    Congratulations!

I heard about this programme -- nice to hear from people who have actually done it. I'm hoping that someday in the next few years (after my seminary is completed next year) I can begin that degree.

My University of Massachusetts diploma has Billy Bulger's signature on it, which really irritates me. I've considered burning it and getting a duplicate, now that Bulger is gone. I suppose any UC or Cal State graduate could do the same, now that Arnold is at the helm.

Interesting points; None of the UMass campuses or any of the MA state colleges have the Governor's signature on their diplomas, and Arnold's official biography on the CA state webpage doesn't make any mention of his DL degree from, I believe, the University of Wisconsin.

'Attaboy Phil. I hope to follow quickly in your footsteps this term with a sheepskin from UMass Lowell. The only famous signiture I recall having on an official document was Jimmy Carter's on my drivers license.

  13. Thanks for the kind words everybody.

The thread I referenced above has a lot of good advice. BTW, the link doesn't seem

to be working, probably because I messed it up somehow. Here's another try:

    http://www.degreeinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4730

If that link doesn't work, do a search on my name and look for the thread

    "CSUDH-HUX Advice" dated 6-3-2002.

    Additional comments:

    * Make a point to check in with Nicole Ballard and/or the other staff members at

the external degree office with questions about administrative procedures and

deadlines for forms. This is particularly important toward the end of the program

when you are doing the thesis. The professors are great sources of feedback on

academic topics but are not the best sources for support questions including

procedures and time frames for rounding up your committee members.

    * I believe the school is now either encouraging or requiring that theses be based

upon topics that the student has worked on during the course work. This is a good

thing I think for the student, as it makes putting together the thesis a lot

easier and I think leads to higher quality work.
