Passed with a 60. No real study. Went to the bookstore and looked at a few Clep books dealing with English and the essay. My essay dealt with how dissatisfaction can lead to greatness. I had to discuss how this related to history or a personal story. I've also taken the Information Systems Clep. Scored a 50....WHEW...just made it! No study. If you know something about computer systems it's not that bad. More technical stuff than I thought though. More LAN, Networking, System stuff.... Still thinking of: Ed Psych Clep Sociology (although this might not transfer for what I need) Analyze and Interpret Lit (not sure this will transfer to anything I need) Biology (checking to see if this will cover a "lab" requirement"....from what i've seen, it might even cover 2!!! that would be so great! Math....again...might cover 2 math requirements? wouldn't that be great?!
Congrats! I took it last week, so I still don't know what I scored. How long did it take you to get your score?
Wonder what do you plan to use this credit for? I mean which college ? Excelsior as we all know wont accept this to satisfy their requirement. not sure about TESC and COSC
Re: Passed the English w/Essay Clep! Congrats! I took it last week, so I still don't know what I scored. How long did it take you to get your score? I took the clep in mid October so it took quite a while for the results. Good luck!
Re: Re: Passed the English w/Essay Clep! A score of 50 is a passing score for most colleges and univesities. It is a passing score equal to 6 credits at both the community college I attend now and the 4 year college I will transfer to. It equals 2 English classes.
Re: Re: Re: Passed the English w/Essay Clep! I found that the CLEP not only is not accepted at Excelsior, neither the local Community College in my area, nor the state U,(WA STATE U) will accept CLEP "...even as a qualifying exam..." I had to take their placement exam,(which was easier than the CLEP) to qualify to take Eng101. Then after Eng 101 and Eng102, plus Technical Writing, and Research Writing, I found that none of these were acceptable to Excelsior, although they are acceptable to WSU. Where are you located?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Passed the English w/Essay Clep! I'm in New Jersey. Luckily, both the community college and the 4 year college I'm transferring to accept CLEP tests. Georgian Court has a website that lists the tests they accept and their equivalent courses.
