Plz, Help me to get a Bachelor/Master Degree thru past Academic+Life/Work experience

Hi,

I learned about this site while searching on the internet for the sake of claiming credits towards my: -

- unfinished Bachelor Degree in Commerce (B. Com) from University of the Punjab, Pakistan,

- unfinished Higher National Diploma (HND) in Travel & Tourism Management from the United Kingdom

- and more than 5 years of documented experience working in different countries, in different capacities, ranging from a dough maker in Germany to editor-in-chief in the United States

to complete my studies / get a Bachelor / Master degree in Journalism / Media studies .etc

Through experience, I know that it is easy to get credits for academic experience but not for the past work / life experience which I DO need to claim.

Here are my goals:

- I would like to get maximum credits towards my past Academic experience

- I would like to get maximum credits towards my past work / life experience which is documented

ONCE, I have achieved above two goals and know where I am standing in terms of credits then:-

- I would like to get a Bachelor / Master Degree in Journalism / Media .etc from a reasonable University

- I would try my best NOT to spend another 3 or 4 years of my life completing just my Bachelor degree

Should you kindly help me:-

- to find a good and reputable Evaluator to evaluate my past Academic AND most importantly documented work / life experience for the completion of my studies rather than Immigration purposes

and

- to find a good / reasonable University which will accept that evaluation / credits towards a Bachelor / Master degree in Journalism / Media .etc

then I would be GREATLY thankful.

Hi,

From my knowledge about portfolio assessment it’s not that simple. You pay the same tuition as if you took that class and the process is very demanding.

You may want to take a test or number of tests to prove your knowledge of gained work experience.

Good starting point would be to evaluate your foreign academic record with ECE (foreign credentials evaluation service)
In case you apply to Excelsior collage in NY.
They may not offer the exact major you need but it will be fast track to a Bachelors degree.



Check BA in 4 weeks site.

Are you thinking US ( RA or NA) University or UK, other country?

have you looked at

Thoman Edison College

or

Charter Oak College

and in Canada (check out Prior Learning assesment at AU)

Athabasca University

They will accept a wide variety of credits and you can also do portfolio to get credits. I dont know if they have the major that you are looking for, better to check them out. Since your education was outside US you would have to get evaluation from ECE or other credential evaluators. I am in the process of getting one done myself. Most of my education is from UK.
