The following was just reported on f---edcompany.com : Rumor has it ITT Technical Institute just cut teacher pay, and added new part-time teachers. Word is they also got rid of the official Microsoft and Cisco books, replacing them with "error ridden junk from India," according to one teacher and FC reader. Of more interest is this gem, pulled from their website: Each ITT Technical Institute is either authorized or licensed by the state in which it is located and is accredited by or in the process of seeking accreditation from an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This sounds remarkably like your standard millspeak... except that ITT would certainly not be considered to be a mill by most. If the statement reported on f---edcompany.com is correct, and if DETC has recognized some or all of their campuses, I wonder if an institutional investigation has been started? For that matter, can anyone remember *any* case of a school losing DETC accreditation?
Yes, Azaliah. How on earth it obtained accreditation in the first place is truly beyond me. Thankfully now out of business.
Hi Chip - I don't actually think that DETC has accredited any ITT Tech schools - unless they are going by a different name. As to whether or not any DETC schools have lost accreditation, a few have, but more have elected to resign their accreditation, rather than lose it, and I would guess that decision was based on strong advice from the council. Please note I did say guess, I do not know that for sure! Mary
When I was attending ITT we where state recognized and our accreditation was from ACICS And if you go and look at this pdf you will find that ITT still has their recognition from ACICS. Michael
ITT does not have DETC accreditation. ITT never had DETC accreditation in Indiana at least in the Electronics program. When I consulted them a year ago they were strongly against providing distance education classes in Indiana.
