    Greetings All. This is my first post here.

    I've found this board to be exceptionally useful in helping me find a DL Terminal Business Degree. I've narrowed my options to Touro's Business PhD (TUI) and Indiana State's (ISU) PhD in Technology Management (link and some info below).

    I'm looking for some input on not only the quality of the education, but also how the degrees are perceived by educational institutions. I'd hate to go thru all the work only to find out that people sneer at the degree. No flames please.

    I'd also consider any other suggestions.

    * Both appear to be regionally accredited which is important to me because I wish to teach.
    * Touro is ~ $25K in 30 months
    * ISU is around $32K in 40 months.
    * Touro doesn't require a residence, ISU does (that saves $5K additional in costs and lost wages)
    * Books are included at Touro
    * Touro doesn't require the GRE

    ISU info (hard to come by)

    Our program, the students are considered non-resident paying in-statefees. at each of the consortiums. The cost would depend on your specialization and from where you take the classes.
    Right now the tuition is for 2003-2004
    * East Carolina University $367.00
    * Central Missouri State University $280.00
    * North Carolina A & T University $224.00
    * Bowling Green State University $376.00
    * Indiana State University $242.00
    These are all per credit hours.

    90 hours are the total required hours.

    Relative Time and Cost

    A year and a half ago I was comparing several different programs and generated the following information. Please note costs have risen in many cases (especially the public schools and Northcentral (data from before full accredtitation)). Also this is leaning heabily towards engineering related.

    Northcentral University Engineering managemtn PhD 3 $16,000
    Colorado State University Industrial engineering PhD 3 $18,312
    The Union Institute Interdisciplanry PhD PhD 2 $18,784
    Touro University PhD 3 $20,000
    Nova southeastern University Information systems PhD 3 $26,700
    University of Alabama - Huntsville Engineering Management PhD 4 $27,300
    Saybrook Graduate School Organizational Development PhD 2 $27,600
    University of Phoenix Organizational leadership DBA 3 $33,000
    Indiana State University Technology Management PhD 4 $33,210
    Walden University Applied management PhD 3 $38,000

    I researched both at a time, and this is just my assessment. TUI is growing in reputation, and this board (as welll as others) have great things to say. Indiana's program is NOT a business degree, it is in their Technology department, which is completely seperate from their business department. Make sure the where you want to teach requires a graduate degree, not necessarily in business and you should be OK. Also, make sure the THIS program meets your accreditation needs if you want to use it for teaching.

    So I applied for the Winter 04 session at Touro and was told it is full, they could put me in the spring session. :(

    Problem is, I have commitments at least a year out. And they aren't accepting applications for any of the 05 terms yet.

    You would think that a DL school would understand that thier potential students are busy (one of the reasons DL schools are picked) and would accomdate this....:rolleyes:

    The PhD at Indiana State has a good reputation but it is not exactly cheap and some residencies are required. The PhD at Touro is more affordable and 100% online but it is a new program that haven't graduated enough people so it is hard to say how they will perform. However, the level of satisfaction of Touro seems to be high judging by all the postings in this board.
