Not on the list http://www.dfes.gov.uk/recognisedukdegrees/wcoukd.shtml Therefore not legally granting degrees. Supposedly founded in 1890. In Belfast? Unlike most stupid people you are smart enough to get a degree in 3 months. Usual quicky degree stuff. Enough said.
In addition: What is surprising here is that if you look under degree programs, the entire page is almost a duplicate of Commonwealth Open University degree programs page. Wonder who copied from whom or does COU and Renshaw have a connection?
I came across these posts recently and although it's some years old I am in position to cast some light on this matter. Shaftesbury House Tutorial College was founded by John Renshaw in 1893. He served as a MP for Queens University in the Northern Ireland Parliament in 1943. He also served on he Senate of the university. He was principal of the college until his death in 1955 and was succeeded in that post by Richard C Burrowes. The college specialised in education gifted children from working class backgrounds who's parents were usually unable to afford the high fees demanded by the established grammar schools. He was also an eminent classical scholar and many young men with ambitions for the church studied there. Among these was the recently retired Primate of Ireland Lord Robin Eames, Archbishop of Armagh. In many ways he was far ahead of his contemporaries and the college was often oversubscribed. I was a student there in the 1960s. The college closed in 1990 and the premises were sold and converted into a Hotel. I was surprised therefore whenever I saw that there was a website under the name of Edenville University which was claiming to have links with Shaftesbury House College. Several of the claims it made seemed plausible but none of my college acquaintances had ever heard of it. I hope this clears the matter
Shaftesbury House College Hi, am looking for info regard exams boards used with the above college. You appear to be the only person I have found who has knowledge of the school. I attended there in the 1970's and obtained O levels, and I now need copies of these certificates. I have tried every exam board in Northern Ireland, including AQA, but there is no record of either the school or the exam boards used by this college. Is there any chance you have further info that could help me? Many thanks.
