Sounds like undergrad stuff to me. Do any legitimate grad programs offer such credit? I don't think so.

    According to:

Thomas Flint, Ph.D. Vice President for Lifelong Learning Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), the following institutions offer experiential credit at the graduate level:

    1. DePaul University's School for New Learning (Chicago) .
    2. University of Mary (North Dakota) .
    3. University of Illinois at Springfield

    4. Central Michigan University -- Can be done at a distance.

    5. The Fielding Institute (Santa Barbara, CA) -- Can be done at a distance.

    6. Thomas Edison State College (Trenton, NJ) -- has a Master of Science
in Management and a Master of Arts in Professional Studies, both as online degrees. Visit the web site at www.tesc.edu/degrees.

I'm not sure he got it right with TESC, but I did spot check The Fielding Institute and sure enough, Fielding does have a provision that it's possible for a student to exempt out of a class in their graduate programs if the student can convince the dean s/he knows the class already.

Columbia Southern University, a DETC accredited school, offers graduate credit for prior learning, demonstrated through a portfolio.

That's just one example that I happen to be familiar with. I'm sure there are many more.

A maximum of 9 credit-hours as per DETC regulation.

9 units isn't bad, that can be up to 25% of a graduate degree by experiential learning. Neat.

Excelsior's MA in Liberal Studies can also grant you some credit for previous knowledge, if your knowledge -- i.e., of a liberal arts subject -- is in depth and you prove it somehow to their satisfaction. You may well have to travel to Albany to be examined, and I believe the cost of such an exam is the same as the cost of a 3-credit course online, but at least you would save some time in finishing the degree.
