Does anyone know the outcome of the visit to Trinity (Indiana) by the NCA committee? They were scheduled for a visit to determine Trinity's qualifications to pursue accreditation on Nov 11. Any news? John Yalmeda
Yes, it sure would be interesting to find this out, but it may be a little early to get this kind of information. I checked the NCA's website, but could not find anything about this, although it may be there, and I just could not find it.
NCA accreditation I wrote to and received an email from Lil Nakutis of NCA. He wrote that this was only the first of many steps and it would still be several months before any information would be available regarding Trinity's accreditation candidacy status. An advisor at Trinity put out a message stating that the visiting committee voted unanimously in favor, whatever that meant. Jim
It will be interesting if they do receive RA status. Trinity has some interesting programs and two campuses (Indiana & Albuquerque campus plus museum). At the moment they are affordable. Nonetheless, I do not like that MDS program and ...er...yuk. To me MDS is worse than the Liverpool accreditation. Ah well, we shall see. Trinity has the physical plant and resources to pull this accrediation thing off. Whether they do or not is another matter. Too early to start backing a horse. North
Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary no longer has an extension in Albuquerque. The former extension has operated independently since 2001 and goes by the name Trinity Southwest University.
Trinity Southwest University Is anyone familiar with TSU (http://tsuabq.com/default.asp)? I found it by googling "biblical archaeology degree university" and then I came here and found it was mentioned in this discussion. I have emailed them for some information and answers to some questions. Why the split with the other Trinity? I see they are unaccredited, but are clear on this status, and do not claim any strange nonsense "accreditations". They do not list where their faculty earned their degrees (which makes me a bit nervous), but have at least one that seems to have published several books (Latayne C. Scott, http://www.netherwood.org/family/atdawell/editrextendedbio.html).
Re: Trinity Southwest University This isn't an answer to your question, but given that you're already enrolled at SATS, have you considered Unisa's Biblical Archaeology degree? If it were not for the tedious necessity of getting an MBA to advance my career, it would be well up the list of courses I'd like to do. Angela
Angela, Well it appears that Unisa offers only a BA or BTh in Biblical archaeology. I am doing an MTh is such now with SATS. I am curious (but not committed) about a doctorate is biblical archaeology. Other than that I am looking at Unizul for a DTh in biblical studies. You got my hopes up for a minute! Thanks anyway.
Ummm. *Much* more difficult (as you're already well aware ;-). Within the UK, my immediate reaction would be to go part-time, preferably at Cambridge. Distance learning at that level is pretty much a no-no, I suspect, unless you hammer out an individualised PhD at Lampeter. Angela
