Well, this is my first posting with the new profile description. Yes, it is official. I am going to Grenoble (GGSB) on Saturday for the first resident visit for their DBA program. Thanks to Denver, who shared the information on the program, and to all who have helped me through the process... it has been a roller coaster to say the least. I will post more details on the program and information later. This is just a quick note, since I have to start packing!
Is there any reason why you are taking this degree at Grenoble and not at the U of Newcastle? It would seem that travel costs and language would be an advantage in the UK. Of course one could always get some skiing in in Grenoble
Re: Re: GGSB DL Doctorate I looked into MANY school, and applied to three. My huge Henley saga was posted a few months ago. Grenoble was my second choice. It had a great number of American students. I was able to get a great response and support. The program is in English, and I have already been sent books and information on France. So far so good!!
Kristie, Having read your search with interest, I am happy the dilemma of "where" is over. I hope you have the time, energy, and patience to complete this chapter of your life. How long do you speculate a DBA at Grenoble will take? Curiously, Steven King
Congratulations, Kristie. Don't forget to stop by Amsterdam once you get to France for one of those residences. Americans love it here. But I won't say why.....
It is a 3 year program, based upon defending your dissertation (in english) that is about 70,000-80,000 words.
Kristie, I know that you were only considering a DBA from a school with AACSB accreditation. I can't find GGSB listed on the AACSB web site. What kind of accreditation does the school have and what did you base your decision to enroll on? Cy
Congratulations, Kristie. From what I understand, GGSB is a classy outfit, so the fact that you were accepted certainly attests to your intelligence.
Re: Re: Re: GGSB DL Doctorate The reason I asked is my understanding that this same Grenoble degree is joint with Newcastle. That being said I checked with several UK schools re DBAs and EngDs and could not find one that took DLs (except a nice PhD program at Leicester but it was too expensive and too long).
Excellent choice!! Grenoble has an excellent reputation in business. I think it is worth the few trips.
I apologize that I haven’t responded to the AACSB question. Here goes – First, a disclaimer, nothing I am about to say represents the school or AACSB. I pick Grenoble for a few reasons. First, I wanted to pick a school with a good reputation, and Grenoble seemed to have that. Secondly, I wanted a school that will give a personal touch to students, and during the recruiting / interview process they showed that. Third, I wanted AACSB to teach later at CSUS. OK, here is where things did not work out perfectly, but a bit of background. GGSB hosted the last conference for the AACSB organization and is actively seeking accreditation. Their latest attempt (October) will have results published in January, and they are “optimistic”. AACSB, who I never have seemed to get information from, I e-mailed (hey, what the heck), and they stated that “they currently do not have accreditation, but if I were to begin a program and they receive accreditation before my graduation, the degree would be considered AACSB accredited”. Since I have e-mailed them about 5 other schools, and they only response was “No comment”, I thought this was a good sign. I have the commitment of the administration that they will continue to seek the accreditation, and my recent posting about the equality of AACSB to EQUIS has shed some light on the accreditation questions. I also have realized that though CSUS might not see a degree other than AACSB, that the international connections and experience will be more than a single opportunity at one school to teach. To recap, it was a hard decision, much sole searching, and a final plummet to the unknown…… no I am not 007 , just a person seeking a degree that fits my needs. A perfect scenario would they would have been accredited before I started, but with all other aspects, they have been impressive up to this point. And for those of you who saw my title, i have changed it once again to note that I have just started, not to show I have any degree yet, check back in a few years to see it back how it was (sorry for the mix up, I didn't realize).
Congratulations on your recent acceptance to Grenoble. Forgive my ignorance, but isn't the actual DBA degree issued from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne? I thought that Grenoble also issued a "certificate" for the joint program.
