    So...

Here's the experiment, I'm applying to phD programs after a bachelors from Excelsior. I applied to some top flight schools and some 20-30 ranked schools (via US NEWS). It's not a perfect experiment, since I have no control group, but here's my situation.

I'm completing my Masters in Educational Administration from a brick and mortar state college with a 3.75 GPA. I'm applying for programs in Educational Psychology and I have five years experience in psych working at a hospital for wards of the state and troubled youth as well as four years experience teaching bilingual elementary school (I speak Spanish). Compared to my fellow applicants, my GPA is average, my work experience is excellent, my GRE is above average (710 verbal, 780 quant) and so the only thing that would prevent my admission would be that I have 80+ hours of CBE on my undergrad transcript.

    So, we'll see.

Some years ago, a friend of mine completed his BA at Excelsior (then called Regents College of the University of the State of New York). He was accepted into the University of Utah and completed a doctorate there.

I have had several friends and colleagues complete undergraduate degrees at Excelsior or Thomas Edison. All of them have been accepted into graduate programs.

Research done in the late 70s shows that even back then, accredited non-traditional undergraduate degrees high a high level of acceptance.

    For what it's worth.
