I'm investigating DL DBA's that combine coursework and research, and have managed to find H-W, Henley, Manchester (IFM) and Grenoble. H-W is much cheaper (about half the price), and doesn't have the residence requirements of the others. However its MBA isn't accredited and the university doesn't have the same status as Edinburgh. For someone not aiming at an academic career, is a H-W qualification ok, or should I cough up for one of the others?

You may also wish to post your question at: http://forums.delphiforums.com/hwmba/ . This is the student-run website for students in the EBS MBA program.

Several thousand students are currently in or are graduates of the EBS program. So it appears to meet the needs of many people. I was one of them, graduating in July 2000.

Point of note H-W IS Edinburgh! Edingburgh Business School is the entity in H-W that teaches business.

Also there was a lengthy discussion on this topic recently, noting that only a few European schools are AACSB acredited, primarily to attract US students.

I think you will find that the H-W MBA is "accredited" i.e awarded by a UK University with a Royal Charter.

The University of Newcastle from Australia offers a new Online DBA program which does not have residence requirement. The cost of the DBA is around:
    A$27,000 (US$19,000) for MBA holders
A$39,000 (US$27,500) for bachelor degree holders

In the latter case, one has to take MBA and DBA courses together.

The DBA program is also offered through on-campus and off-campus modes, apart from online mode. The online programs are offered through the GraduateSchool.com, a fully-owned subsidiary of the University. Further information of the online DBA can be obtained throgh http://www.gradschool.com.au

Some confusion here. Edinburgh Buisness School is indeed part of Heriot-Watt University. However Edinburgh University is a completely different Institution. Edinburgh Uni has in general a higher recognition abroad (due mostly to the medical faculty I would guess) than H-W. That may be what the original poster meant.
