    Hi,
Back on track with my MBA at Queen Margaret. I have thought about getting a second masters in hospitality after completion of this degree. Awaiting word re: this from Queen Margaret UC; but is it possible to simply take some more modules for a second masters? Perhaps not at the same institution, but can you transfer a degree towards earning a second?

    thanks again everyone, John

    Depends

The UK does not work in the same way as the USA. You may be able to gain module/course exemptions if you can demonstrate that you've already covered quite specific course requirements at some other institution. However, most departments would want to know why you are not prepared to take all their courses. I applied to Oxford to do a doctorate 6 months after gaining my PhD (in the UK). They (Oxford) told me I had to do everything all over again, including the research methods classes and examinations! It took me 5 years (part-time to get my PhD by research) and Oxford wanted me to do the full 6 years (part-time)...I didn't bother!

AJJ, might be of interest to you

When I was reviewing The University of the Free State's site I noticed they had some Doctorates that appeared to be designed for holders of another PHD. They are:

    Doctor Commercii
    Doctor Administrationis
    Doctor in Personnel Leadership
    Doctor Computationis
    Doctor Economiae
    Doctor in Public Management
    Doctor in Accounting

    Here is a description:

This doctorate are not intended for persons who wish to pursue further study based on their thesis material alone. These degrees are intended for persons who are already in possession of doctorates, and who, owing to the notable number of articles that have been published in a specific field, and deemed to be of a particularly high standard, may register for this doctorate. In exceptional cases the Senate may also allow a person who has not yet obtained a doctorate the opportunity to register for a doctor's degree under the same conditions.
