Hi Etech COSC only offers a BA in general studies. While they do require concentrations, the degree major is always general studies and it is listed on both the transcript and degree. TESC offers a BA with a concentration in Computer Science and a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in MIS. COSC states they do not offer GPAs on transcripts or to graduate schools. I believe someone mentioned they will send a GPA to a grad school, but not to students. Too secretive for me. I hope this was somewhat helpful. Good luck.

A transcript from the big three before degree completion has little value. Schools will grant transfer credit as they see fit. After completion, it is a BA or BS and readily accepted as such.
Hi Dennis I think you are correct that often just a BA/BS (any) can meet a specific requirement. At other times a specific degree is required. In the latter case, I think a BA in General Studies will likely be a disadvantage. In some cases it won't meet the requirement at all.
I have a doubt on this statement. Such a transcript from big 3 can still cause problem even if BA/BS degree has been completed from them. Those colleges that do not accept CLEP, DANTES and other exams may not accept those credits for a second degree or even for graduate study (where pre-reqs are courses which were achieved by examination). However they will be more acceptable (as they are RA schools) if only courses, grades and credits are listed on transcripts without how and where they were achieved. This is just my thought and concern. I could be wrong so please comment.
Here's my take on it: I don't think a grad school is going to deny your admission package for a certain program because you had a BS in General Studies w/ a concentration in whatever as opposed to a BS in whatever. As long as your concentration has the prerequisite course work needed for admissions. I seriously doubt they look at your diploma, see general studies, and tell you you can't be admitted because of the name of your degree. They want to know whether you had 1 year of calculus, physics, basket weaving, etc. Let's say I had a BA in history.. Let's say I drifted off course and got a lot of elective credit in electrical engineering. I graduate w/ a BA in History (w/ a bunch of coursework in engineering). Granted, the school may be confused when they receive your application at first but once they take a look at your transcript, see what you have that satisfies the admissions requirements, I would think you are good to go. Take a look at where COSC alumni have been accepted to earn professional degrees (to name but a few from their catalog): Harvard University (including Bus. School), Columbia University, Yale University (including Med. School), etc. What more needs to said . Your UGPA and entrance exam (LSAT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, etc) are what matter. My good friend went to Duke Law School with "a bunch of CLEP's on his transcript" - he had jobs waiting for him a year before graduation (all offering 125k starting salaries plus bonus). I'm yet to see where a DANTES or CLEP has held anyone back.
For what its worth, my COSC transcript says: Bachelor of Arts - Interdisciplinary studies - Natural Science. Then again I graduated when the school was: Board for State Academic Awards of The State of CT Board of Higher Education (or something close to that) It still says that on the associates diploma tht I never swapped out. I should look to see if the BA says COSC or COC.
