Did anyone here take any DL programs through Holborn College? www.holborncollege.ac.uk I am thinking about taking their University of Wolverhamton LLM program, and the University of Wales MBA program. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi Bo, If memory serves (and it might not) the U of Wales program is not distance learning as such. You actually have to attend Holborn College (which, while not in Wales, is not in Canada either). Double check to be sure, I could be wrong. Regarding the Wolverhampton LLM, I'd looked at that program as well (briefly). Don't have any info on it, but I did read that Wolverhampton is ranked number 70 out of 72 law schools in the UK. I read that on www.malet.com, but can't vouch for the accuracy. I believe that Wolverhampton may have a DL MBA supported directly by the school (not through Holborn), so they might be willing to do a combination deal for you. I would think the best ideaa is contacting the directly about it. This post is not worth much, but I tried! PS: Holborn sent me a very nice info package, I suggest filling out their online info request just to get it.
Novemberdude, Do you know where I can go on the net to find out the rankings of UK law schools? Thanks
Wolverhamton Law School Ranking Hi bo79, Try this one. Wolverhamton law school ranks 72 out of 88. http://education.guardian.co.uk/higher/unitable/0,11985,723568,00.html?start=0
Bo, My apologies. University of Wales does offer a purely DL MBA. Try www.purpletrain.com. Sorry for the mistake.
The two major sets of undergraduate rankings are by The Guardian (which Novemberdude has already mentioned) and The Times http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,6734,00.html Of the two, The Times probably has a better correlation to the mainstream view of what are and aren't good universities and departments. The Guardian can throw up results, based upon their emphasis upon teaching, that have one staring at the screen in amazement. However, put the two together and you've got a good basis for views at the undergraduate level. Having said which, the above only look at *undergraduate* teaching. To look at the graduate level, it's probably a good idea to add in the Research Assessment Exercise results as well http://195.194.167.103/Results/byuoa/uoa36.htm and add that to the scores at the undergraduate level for a good idea of what a taught postgraduate course will be like. The Holborn College-taught MBA, btw, is a full-time course. You might be thinking of the part-time MBAs taught jointly between Bangor and Manchester http://www.bme.ac.uk/ Angela
Hey Bo, I know nothing about this school, but have you looked at Deakin University? They offer an "off campus" LLM. http://www.law.deakin.edu.au/courses/indexgrad.html
Re: Wolverhamton Law School Ranking Thanks for the info. I check it out and I was pretty impressed that Northumbria ranked 15th. I was under the impression that Nothumbria and Wolverhampton are around the same level, but I guess not. Bo
