I'm interested in a UoL bachelors in Business and was hoping those already experienced in dealings with the UoL could give me an insight into:

    1. whether the programs they offer are well designed?
    2. Do the study packs include much information for the price?
    3. The standard of the exams?
    4. Are you happy with UoL?

I would be grateful for anything else you think may be of interest...

    Many thanks in advance,

    Benny

I am enrolled in the London Master of Laws program. It is well designed and very demanding. I haven't taken the first set of exams yet but looking at past exam papers, I'd say that you really need to know your stuff in detail.

I just finished my first year with UoL (I'm going for a now-discontinued Mathematics/Statistics degree). I think the material is reasonably well written, though the study guides were obviously typeset by the authors using various programs. My other point of reference is Open University (I was in the M.S. computing for one year at USOU until it tanked) and though Open's materials were nicer looking, professionally designed and typeset, I thought the content was not very rigorous. I was offered the opportunity to continue the degree at Open, but I declined because of that lack of rigor.

The exams were about what I expected. I sat four, and passed three. I failed Calculus/Mathematical methods because I got really busy at work and ended up only having about two nights to study. Turns out I couldn't actually pass a yearlong calculus sequence with that much studying...I did manage a high 2nd on Prob/Stats with 2 weeks studying though. Not outstanding, but I'll take it, since I'm mostly doing this for my own edification and satisfaction. The sample exam questions at the end of the study guides are more difficult than the exams, which is a good thing, because I found them quite challenging; if you can do those, you'll be in good shape. I'm stupid enough to attempt a full-time courseload while working full time and being Dad to a couple of kids, and so far it's worked out OK. I'm still married... ;)

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the program as far as it goes. UoL is a bit anachronistic. One course had assignments, and they had to be printed out and mailed in with a signed cover sheet, no email accepted. The price is right, however.

    why discontinued

just checked out the UoL's site and there are no maths/science degrees. Why is that? When were they discontinued? Any reason?
    Thanks!

    HI all,
I have just finished my exams for Msc in Financial economic.
I found the course is demanding and in my opinion the specimen exam is very useful for reviewing and preparing you for the exam.
If you can do the specimen exam then you should be okay wiyh your exam.

    Lack of interest I'd guess.
