This came to me yesterday. I have no connection with either school. Hopefully, I have caught most of the .txt formatting errors.

    Hello ESOs,
Just wanted to keep you in the loop as to the recent articulation partner
of NCU. Hope all is well. Be safe.

Northcentral University Partners with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Extended Campus to Offer Doctoral Degrees

Northcentral University (NCU), the first accredited 100% online university offering bachelor, master and PhD degrees, announced today that is has signed an articulation agreement with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Extended Campus (ERAU-EC). Under the partnership, the two schools formed a joint online PhD program that combines their expertise and resources to enhance learning opportunities for ERAU-EC master graduates.

Upon completion of the ERAU-EC master degree, graduates will be admitted into NCU PhD in Business Administration online degree program. Per the agreement, NCU will accept 36 graduate credits from a master degree earned at ERAU-EC. Those participating in the program will have completed their aeronautical-related courses at ERAU-EC, and will go on to enroll in NCU research and doctoral level courses to complete the PhD.

Embry-Riddle has 132 academic sites in 38 states and five nations, and U.S. News & World Report recently ranked them number one in the Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering category for schools without doctorate programs. Formation of a partnership with Northcentral University opens the door for aeronautical science disciplines to be offered at the PhD level for the first time. Of Embry-Riddle 26,000 students, 6,000 are enrolled in master level programs throughout the country and will be eligible to participate in Northcentral University doctoral program.

This collaboration between our schools provides seamless access to graduate doctoral educational resources for Embry-Riddle graduatesk, said Dr. Donald Hecht, President of NCU. Dr. Robert Myers, Chancellor of Extended Campus for Embry-Riddle noted, =93In today competitive workplace, there is a growing need for professionals with doctoral degrees, and we are pleased to offer Embry-Riddle graduates the opportunity to strive=
for the next level of educational and professional success, the PhD.

50% of students enrolled in Embry-Riddle Extended Campus are military
personnel, and the convenience of Northcentral University distance learning courses will make it possible for them to obtain a PhD from any duty station in the world. The opportunity to pursue higher education online is a tremendous asset not only to ERAU-EC students, but also allows faculty to engage in scholarly pursuits and maintain currency in their discipline.

The doctoral degree program at NCU is unique in the sense that there are absolutely no campus residency or on-site requirements. All course work is done completely through the Internet from the comfort and convenience of home or the work place. NCU is the first university in the country to be both regionally accredited and to make this type of learning environment available, especially to those seeking doctoral degrees. Those enrolled in various degree programs have found NCU methodology to be a nice fit with life other obligations.

The missions of both NCU and ERAU-EC are to make higher education possible for working adults who rely on the convenience of distance learning. Dr. Hecht and Dr. Myers are confident that the agreement between their schools will prove to be an exciting opportunity for all involved.

I wonder if this applies to all of Embry's extended campus master degree programs. For example, if I took the school's aviation safety or human factors tracks as part of the MAS program, I really haven' t taken any business adminstration related classes. If I did an MBA in Aviation, obviously it is all applicable.
I did my BS through Embry's extended campus, so I am always interested when I see its name in print.

Looking at news like this about NCU, and news about AMU/APUS coming accreditation and possible doctorate, show how aggressive schools are taking it to brick and mortar schools. B & M schools are slowly losing thier contracts with military bases, due mostly to technology and flexibility.

I wish I could get 36 hours from NCU, then I may consider thier soon to be offered Ed D.

    Not so fast NCU ...

Whoa ... not so fast there NCU ...

Me thinks NCU seems to have forgotten the fact that
Touro was the 1st on-line school to offer a non-resident
Ph.D program. <As I recall Dr. Bear noted TUI was the
1st in a post several YEARS ago now>

Wonder what else they are being less
    than accurate about ...

    Interesting.

    Hey Ian,
Thanks for the link. For those of you that haven't opened it, your MAS credits cover a new specialization: Aeronatics.
I think it is a great thing for Embry's MAS students who have wondered what to do next academically.

Re: Not so fast NCU ...

That may be true taking into consideration their "un-accredited" period of operation.
