    Good evening everyone,

I'm looking for someone in this discussion forum who might have some first hand (or even second hand knowledge) of the DL programs at the schools below. I'm specifically considering entering one of them the next semester. They are all accredited.

-University of London Bachelor in Divinity Degree

-Southern Christian University Bachelor in Biblical Studies Degree

-Liberty University Masters in Professional Counseling Degree

If anyone has some experience with any of these programs (positive or negative) they could share that would be great. I noted that Bill Dayson posted a comment several months back about the University of London's B.D. degree which sounded as though the U of L sends you a study manuel and then you take one final exam with little support. Anyone who can shed some light, that would be great.

I'm also trying to figure out how credits are arranged by the University of London. They seem to be called modules but I see no information on how much credit is contained in each module or how much academic credit one can transfer to the University of London. In essense it appears to be 10 modules for the B.D. degree but what the heck is a module and how does my previous coursework transfer to the U of L? Look forward to your opinions.

    thanks
    Jeff

I never enrolled in the program but I did apply to Liberty's Masters in Counseling. The application went smooth and the advisors seemed to be responsive. They would respond to emails pretty fast. I already had a masters so I decided to go for an Ed.D. vs another masters. If it was not for that, I would be in their program now. They have changed their program around a lot lately so make sure you write down every possible question you may have and call or email one of the advisors to get some answers.

I am only posting this for the information requested. Cheri Hayes, wife of Jimmy Hayes, Andersonville Theological Seminary , received her master's in counseling from Liberty. You might contact her.

    (1) The University of London sends out a study manual and reading list for each module, and then one takes an exam at his/her nearest Sylvan-affiliated testing center (of which there are some thousands--six or seven in the Jackson/metro area of Mississippi alone). Further (optional) instruction is available through a number of independent correspondence schools set up just to administer coursework for the UoL exams.

    (2) The B.D. involves ten (or so) modules, each on a different topic. Think of it as a course-based master's rather than a bachelor's, because the B.D. is a professional degree once considered equivalent to the M.Div. (and it still functions as a professional qualification for Church of England ministers). It's impossible to transfer credit to the UoL program as such, but you can request exemptions from up to two modules based on prior documented study (which is sort of like transferring credit, in practical terms).

    Good luck!
