I've been accepted into thr MBA program at Touro, or at least I think I have.

Yesterday I received my degree plan via e-mail. I haven't been able to get in touch with my adviser, but according to someone I spoke to at Touro, I should be receiving the official welcome via regular mail. Seems this is the norm. Anyway I was told that I can register for classes starting 10/20, provided I get the necessary documents.

I hope this is not an indication of how thing will be.

    Congratulations-

Touro has been very responsive to all my questions in the past. There have been times when I left voicemails and it does take about 24 hours for them to respond. I think that is acceptable since they were non-urgent questions.

I am a pretty anal person and usually demand instant answers to my questions. I typically do not communicate via email because I like to speak to a person and hold while they find the answer. I have not been disappointed yet with Touro and I hope you will not be either.

    Good luck.

    This is normal

    9Chris,

You will receive an express mail folder in a few days with all of the information that you need. There will be a sheet with your user ids; and passwords and URL's for the various sites and services you will use while doing your studies. However, I rarely used any of the online libraries they provided. Too much hassle. Google was much easier and quicker. There should also be some CD's with software you may or may not need.

From what you describe you are experiencing the normal process which is by no means lacking in service. I don't think being unable to reach an adviser only 24 hours after you received your email notification is unacceptable. Remember, these people have lives and families too and cannot sit by the phone 24-7 waiting for a call from a student. Not trying to be wise here, just trying to point out the reality of it. I was always called back within a day or two when I called. However, that was rare. I communicated via e-mail 99% of the time. E-mails were also answered promptly, usually within a few hours.

You will not be disappointed in the service you will receive. My wife is getting her MPA online from a state B&M down south. She had much (MUCH) greater difficulties with the administration there than I ever had with Touro. Touro was like a well oiled machine compared to them.

    Enjoy your studies,
    Chris

I applied to their doctoral program, in spite of the notice that they were only accepting a limited number on a competitive basis. I was accepted within 48 hours of application, had an email and phone call the same day. They were very responsive and quick to return calls whenever I had a question, as well.

Congratulations bruinsgrad! Welcome to the club! I had a similar experience when I applied. I've always found Touro to be very responsive and quick to return my call when I can't reach the person I want right away.

Which doctoral program are you in? I was told that the College of Health Sciences is not accepting any new students and that the other schools within TUI are becoming much more competitive because of the university's explosive growth.

I was accepted into the College of Education PhD program. I wanted Health Science, but didn't want to wait that long to apply and hope for acceptance. The latest I read, two of their programs are delaying applications until next year.

I still have not received any of this infomation, I did get an e-mail stating that I could register for classes, which I have done. The advisor I spoke with (Nicole) was extremely helpful. She made me feel confortable and glad I made the decision to attend TUI.

I registered for classes within days of acceptance

    Registration may trigger the packet.

Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but my advice is to apply to the TUI College of Health Sciences anyway and get in line, if necessary. Who knows? You may be an attractive candidate at the moment an opening arises. Ask some questions about any openings. Consider that you are going to be studying for a long time to earn the Ph.D... Why not go with your first love?

    Cheers,

    Dave
