Before I discovered this forum I had searched the internet by search engines for a degree in Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Management, Security, Security Science, etc. I ordered catalogs from many schools. So far I have received catalogs from Columbus University, Lacrosse University and Madison University. ( All WAUC accredited ) All the catalogs were very well prepared and quite professional. I would have chosen to take my degree from Lacrosse University ( being unfamiliar with accreditation ) based on what I received. I submitted to Lacrosse University my resume, professional credentials, previous college credits and my work experience. They granted me sixty hours of credit for this. They also required I take a combination of Criminal Justice courses and management courses for a total of 36 hours. The additional 24 hours could be obtained by CLEP, DANTES, etc. or I could take the courses from Lacrosse to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Management. Lacrosse included a syllabus for the courses with the books required. I have read a couple of the books and they are very good. I realize now that this would have been a waste of money and time. I would have probably received an education but would not have been able to use the degree for professional advancement. Thanks for creating this forum!
Smart move. Now you might want to have a look at the nonresident degrees in criminal justice available from American Military U, Andrew Jackson U, Bellevue U, Bemidji State U, Cal State U Fresno, Charles Sturt U, Charter Oak State College, and the College of West Virginia. And those are just the A's, B's, and C's from the subject index of Bears' Guide. John Bear http://www.degree.net
